The cost of a supermodel and more daily snippets

The cost of a supermodel

For a long time now, Brazilian model Gisele Bündchenhas been dubbed, by the likes of Forbes magazine, the world’s highest paid model. We didn’t realise, though, just how much cash she was actually earning. After raking in campaigns for H&M and Chanel and delivering the World Cup trophy for Louis Vuitton, this model is swimming in it! It has been estimated that she now makes about $128 000 a day…

The new Fall fashion campaigns

Tom Ford’s Fall campaign is to die for. Shot by Johnny Dufort, featuring a string of ‘It’ models like Patrick Schwarzenegger, Gigi Hadid, Natalie Westling and Ashleigh Good, this is a team effort of note.

Tapping the beautiful Daria Webowy for the second consecutive campaign, Mango’s Fall/Winter campaign – shot by Josh Ollins – is strikingly ethereal.

The Calvin Klein Jeans revival is effortlessly cool, as expected. After 20 years the brand is celebrating with a string of fresh models and ads. Their most recent features Lara Stone, shot by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott. The ads are covered with the hashtag #mycalvins – encouraging people to share photos of them wearing their Calvins. The ads will debut in the September issues of various magazines.

A newcomer to the campaign world, Amy Adams is the star of Max Mara’s Fall 2014 ads, posing with some of the label’s key accessories.

Kate Bosworth designs new fashion app

Known for her incredible style and fashion savvy, Miss Bosworth is now launching a new fashion app, which helps you track down pieces that you most covet, hence the name Style Thief. ‘Everyone has fashion envy. Everyone can relate to that feeling of looking at an editorial, for example – or a friend, or the runway, for that matter – wanting to steal something exactly as you’re seeing it, or something similar.’ So basically: snap and steal someone’s style.

Many have noted that this is rather similar to another app, called ASAP54, which works with image recognition technology to help users find what they’re looking for.

Tim Noakes encourage the poor to bant

Sport scientist and The Real Meal Revolution co-author Tim Noakes is now encouraging South Africa’s poor children to eat animal organs instead of pap and bread. The Banting diet, or low-carb, high-fat (LCHF) diet, that he endorses is often regarded as a diet for the middle classes, since it can be expensive to follow.

But Noakes now says that anyone can follow this diet, no matter his or her socio-economic status:

‘Carbohydrates drive hunger. They do not satiate us… Children in the Karoo can access animal organs but they are not eating the parts … that help them. The liver, marrow and organs are the healthiest,’ he says.
